From The First Descendant Wiki

Guide's call

Guide is asking for help.

The player's Descendant arrives back to Albion where the Guide speaks to them once more.

  • Listen to Guide's voice

Guide: Descendant...Follow my voice. I need your help. Humanity requires my help...I can find the Ironheart.

Bunny: Enzo...Did you hear that voice?

New Hope

Follow Guide's voice.

  • Talk to Guide

Enzo: Yes, I heard it too, Bunny. I need to explain the situation to Alpha, you should go and get treated.

Bunny: What? Can't Alpha hear the Guide's voice?

Alpha: I don't hear anything at all. It seems to only be linked to active Descendants. Nell, are there any other Descendants who have had contact with the Guide.

Nell: Aside from Jeremy, all Descendants have reported connecting with the Guide. And the Descendant who first made contact with the Ironheart will arriving at HQ shortly.

Alpha: When it comes to the Guide, we have to consider all possibilities. Make sure you familiarize yourself with everything.

The player's Descendant begins their journey through Albion. Instead of heading straight to HQ, they instead seek out the luminous white figure known as Guide who presents herself to the player's Descendant once more.

Guide: To those Descendants who have connected to me...Thank you for answering my call. This is Albion, the last bastion of humanity. Many lives have been laid before the Ironheart...I wish to help humanity. My system can locate the Ironheart. However...my functions were damaged after I was separated from it...If I can access the data left by my creators, the Ancestors, I should be able to find a way to restore my system. I appeal to all Descendants who can hear my voice. Please help me to restore my system. Take me to the Ancestors facility.

Strategic Decisions

HQ is looking for the Descendant who has spoken with Guide.

  • Talk to Alpha at HQ

Enzo: A system that can find the Ironheart...what is it, exactly? Alpha, it looks like the Guide is speaking to another Descendant nearby. I've uploaded the details of the conversation to the command console.

Alpha: Hm...based on this...the Guide seems to be more AI than spiritual being...Any Descendant who has been contacted by the Guide, please report to HQ immediately. Nell, as a non-Descendant, how do you feel about this phenomenon?

Nell: I believe it holds sufficient strategic value to be of interest.

The player's Descendant leaves Guide and reports to Alpha at HQ.

Alpha: Hmm? I didn't expect you to be speaking to the Guide. I thought you were headed straight to HQ. Well, first off, well done on the mission, it was a difficult one. Karel showing up in person...even I was concerned. Since your operation, a strange phenomenon has affected Descendants. When you said there was hope...were you talking about the Guide? To be honest, I suspect that the Guide is either a new Vulgus weapon, or a new enemy. It's clever, claiming that they can find the Ironheart for us. Who wouldn't want to believe that, if they're desperate enough? That is how traps are laid. Everything has a price. My staff officers, however, seem to have a different opinion...Enzo and Nell have proposed verifying the Guide's credibility by fulfilling her requests. And, the truth is, we currently lack any leads on the Ironheart. Enzo and Nell have determined that if the Guide can close the gaps in our knowledge, it will be worth it. Luckily, there is an Ancestors facility within the territory we occupy. We plan on making contact with the Guide there. Descendant, this is your next mission, I would like you and Bunny to bring the Guide to the Ancestors facility in Kingston. Deploying the the Descendants who have been in closest contact with the Ironheart is our best bet. Bunny, I know you're recovering from your injuries, but I'm sure you understand the importance of this. I'll order the Investigative Corps to provide support. I hope we see some results...whatever the outcome may be.

To Kingston

Go to Kingston to bring Guide in contact with the Ancestors' facility.

  • Go to the Kingston Operation Zone

Nell: Bunny, you'll need to equip a new suit before you leave. I've already notified the Ordinance Department.

Bunny: The new suit...It won't be taken out of my pay, right?

Nell: It will be deducted from your pay, naturally.

Bunny: Argh! Damn it!

The player's Descendant teleports to the Albion Outpost stationed at The Destruction Battlefield in Kingston. When they arrive, they are greeted by Guide who now has the appearance of a human woman.

Guide: Welcome, Descendant. Please do not be alarmed. My appearance has been configured to facilitate communication. I am linked to the Arche of the Descendants. I can appear wherever you are. But I am incomplete. At present, only you, Descendant, can see or hear me. I need you to help me fully restore my system. Only then, can I help humanity.

Their conversation is abruptly cut short when Marcus, a lieutenant of the Investigative Corps, calls out for the Descendant. The player's Descendant turns to face Marcus. When they look back for the Guide, they are startled to find she has vanished.

Marcus: Ah, there you are! I'm Marcus from the Investigative Corps. I have orders from HQ to escort you, Descendant. This way, please.

The Situation in Kingston

Before you can seriously start conducting the operations in Kingston, you need to be briefed on the situation by Captain Marcus of the Investigative Corps.

  • Talk to Marcus in Kingston

Marcus: Thank you for all your hard work during the operation to retrieve the Ironheart. The results of that operation were disappointing, but we'll keep looking for other ruins. The Investigative Corps will always support the Descendants. Speaking of which, we heard you're heading to the Ancestors facility in this Area. The facility was once used as a research center by the Magisters, before it was abandoned. I never thought we'd be going back there again. It's been deserted for a long time. Anyway...Let me take you to the facility. Sit tight.

Marcus activates his communicator.

Marcus: Security Corps, this is Lieutenant Marcus, from the Investigative Corps. We have orders from HQ to open the gate to the Ancestors facility.

The line crackles with heavy static.

Marcus: Security Cops, do you copy? This is Lieutenant Marcus from Investigative Corps. What's going on?

Albion Soldier: (Heavy static Noises) This is...! We're under...support...! This is Security Corps! We're under attack from the Vulgus! We need support...!

Marcus: Security Corps, respond! Security Corps! Dammit...! Descendant, it looks like the Vulgus have arrived! Comms are already down. Use the emergency communicator to contact HQ while I try to get a handle on the situation!

As the player's Descendant enters the building, they are immediately met by several Vulgus Mass Soldiers.

Greg: Quickly! Destroy their comms!

Marcus: These bastards! This doesn't feel like a simple raid! They seem to be after this place!

After a short battle downstairs, the player's Descendant ascends the stairs and takes care of another wave of Mass Soldiers.

  • Interact with the target

Greg: I detect Arche. A Descendant has arrived. A perfect trophy for Master Karel...This is Commander Greg. Deploy the assault ship. Eliminate the Descendant!

Upon reaching the emergency communicator, the player's Descendant discovers a Vulgus device deactivating it. They power off the device, but the communicator's functionality is lost.

  • Defeat all targets

As the player's Descendant exits the communications center, Vulgus assault ships arrive, dropping off a final wave of Mass Soldiers. The player's Descendant swiftly neutralizes the threats.

Marcus: In order to each the communications repeater, we need to secure this base first.

The player's Descendant moves through the Battlefield, a war-torn landscape of crumbling buildings. They confront Mass Soldiers, Vulgus Followers, and The Soulless that have invaded the area

Bunny: Huh? I just got here, what's going on? Is Kingston being invaded?

Marcus: You're here Bunny, good. Kingston's entire network has been knocked out by the Vulgus attack.

Bunny: What? How are we going to communicate? You guys can't use the Ecives.

Marcus: We can manage short-distance communications, but not long-distance. We need the emergency communicator back online.

Bunny: Ah, so that's why HQ has been so quiet. I'll check on the other outpost. Where am I going?

Marcus: Go to the base near the theater ruins.

Bunny: You got it. Headed there now.

  • Defeat the target - Vulgus Follower: 0/2

Bunny: Ack, all gates have been blocked. And it looks like we've lost all of our soldiers...!

Marcus: Damn it...Vulgus bastards.

Bunny: I'll try to go around.

Marcus: Then I'll leave you to it. Once the communications repeater is reactivated, we will join you.

The player's Descendant continues to fight all the Vulgus that get deployed from the assault ships, clearing out the urban district of The Destruction.

  • Move to the operation zone

Marcus: Find the communications repeater in this building. Once it's reactivated, we can use the last of the remaining communicators.

With the area surrounding the Communications Relay Base secured, the player's Descendant moves into the dilapidated building. Inside, they locate the Albion Repeater.

  • Defend the Operation Zone

Unfortunately, the Vulgus continue their assault, forcing the Descendant to defend the repeater for two minutes.

Marcus: Dammit! The Vulgus forces have managed to infiltrate this far in! Protect the repeater until it's fully reactivated!

Marcus: (If the Albion Repeater takes enough damage) Descendant, protect the repeater! If the device is destroyed, we won't be able to restore communications!

  • Eliminate the target - Elite Vulgus Grenadier: 0/1

Marcus: Enemy commander spotted! If we take him out, the rest will give up and retreat!

Even if the player's Descendant overcomes the Elite Vulgus Grenadier, the other forces do not retreat requiring the player's Descendant to defend for the full two minutes.

Marcus: It's done! The communications repeater has been restarted! Now, let's hope the last emergency communicator is still intact.

With the defense complete, the player's Descendant leaves the Communications Relay Base with their next goal: find the last emergency communicator.

The player's Descendant navigates through a chaotic battlefield, eliminating any Vulgus that stand in their way to the last emergency communicator.

  • Interact with the target

When the player's Descendant finds it, they quickly activate it, re-establishing long-distance communication. The device hums to life signaling a momentary victory.

  • Move by breaking through the Vulgus

Marcus: Phew, we almost lost the last one. Okay, Descendant, you should join Bunny at the theater outpost. I'll send a sitrep to HQ with the emergency communicator...Wait, Vulgus signals are spiking! What the hell?!

  • Eliminate the enemies in the Surveillance Zone

More assault ships flood the area, dropping off additional Vulgus soldiers. The player's Descendant faces off against this new wave, dispatching each enemy with great haste.

Greg: You're getting closer, Descendant...But my work here is already complete. All forces, extract the Ancestors data. Transfer it to my command center. I will personally deliver it to Master Karel.

Marcus: The Vulgus signals are coming from the Magister Lab! Isn't that HQ's target? This isn't good...I need to report this to Alpha immediately.

  • Eliminate the appeared target - Vulgus War-Slave 0/1

The final assault ship drops off a new monster, a Vulgus War-Slave. The player's Descendant engages in battle and overcomes this new powerful enemy.

Mission Complete

Orders from HQ

An unexpected Vulgus invasion has disrupted your plans. You need to receive new orders from HQ.

  • Receive orders from HQ at the outpost

Alpha: Bunny, Descendant! Do you copy? We've received the sitrep from Kingston. How the hell did this happen? Do my staff still think this is all a coincidence?

Nell: What exactly do you mean by that, Alpha?

Alpha: Things went south as soon as the Guide arrived in Kingston. And not only that, but it seems the Vulgus are after the same target as we are!

Nell: Alpha! That's probably because the enemy has the Ironheart. I don't think it has anything to do with the Guide! We'll have answers once we investigate the Ancestors facility!

Alpha: It's too late for that. The Vulgus have surrounded the facility...Descendant, we need you retake the base seized by the enemy. HQ will review the direction of the operation in the meantime. Over and out.

Suspicion

There is a disagreement at HQ about Guide. Bunny is puzzled by the situation.

  • Talk to Bunny at the outpost

With their new orders, the player's Descendant may use the gate or teleport to The Fallen Theater's outpost. Once there, they meet up with Bunny.

Bunny: This doesn't feel good. It seems like Alpha doesn't trust the Guide at all. The Arche from the Guide felt familiar. That makes me think she's on our side. Oh, what if Alpha can't link to the Guide because of Arche? He doesn't use his Arche abilities much these days.

Bunny sighs.

Bunny: Who knows. Let's focus on the operation for now. I'll go scout every nook and cranny in Kingston. And I'll look for that annoying enemy commander as well. I'll leave the Vulgus siege to you. They're starting to spread out like they own the place. Alright, catch you later! Don't push yourself too hard!

Marcus: The invading Vulgus forces are establishing positions. We need to clear out the building before they really dig in.

The player's Descendant makes their way from the Outpost to the occupied building. They clear out the Vulgus forces in the area that have established a base inside the building.

Marcus: I'm picking up enemy transmission signals! Be careful! Descendant, I've been informed that the Vulgus transmission system has a very limited range. This means there must be an enemy command center somewhere in Kingston.

The player's Descendant enters the building and fights off another wave of Vulgus soldiers that teleport in.

  • Defeat the target - Follower Shield Bearer 0/1

Marcus: We're receiving sightings of a powerful Vulgus unit. If we defeat him, the rest will retreat.

Once the Vulgus in the building are cleared out, the player's Descendant makes their way outside where an assault ship drops off a new Legion of Darkness monster to go up against. The Follower Shield Bearer carries a large shield to block the player's Descendant's bullets. Shotting the weak spot in the middle of the shield, however, will make the monster temporarily lower it. Once the Shield Bearer is down, the rest retreat.

Marcus: All Vulgus transmission signals have ceased. Great job, Descendant.

  • Move to the operation zone

Marcus: The Vulgus have established a field power plant in the area. It seems to be linked to the Magister Lab. It must be destroyed.

Captain Harris: Wait, wait, hold up! Do not shoot at or blow up that power plant, unless you want it to explode! You need to detonate the circuits using a high-voltage fuse. The Construction Corps Captain will show you how to handle this, so listen carefully!

  • Eliminate the enemies defending the camp

The player's Descendant makes their way to the Vulgus base established inside The Fallen Theater, a war-torn coliseum, and systematically clear out the enemies, the clash of weapons and shouts of battle echoing through the ruins of the coliseum

  • Assassinate enemies carrying bombs

Captain Harris: First up, you need to find the facility managers among the enemy forces! They'll be carrying fuses. Once you get your hands on them, stick the fuses on the generators!

After vanquishing several waves of Vulgus, a Follower Panzer carrying a fuse is deployed. The player's Descendant targets this enemy, guns them down, and retrieves the fuse.

  • Shut down enemy generators using the obtained bombs

There are three Vulgus Generators, marked A, B, and C, that need to be destroyed using a fuse each. The player's Descendant takes the fuse to any of the Vulgus Generators. After attaching it, the bomb detonates and the generator is destroyed.

  • Eliminate the enemies defending the camp

Captain Harris: That's one generator down, two more to go! Keep up the good work!

Marcus: How do you know how to do this, Captain?

Captain Harris: The Albion generators will fail if you attach high-voltage fuses to parallel circuits. The ones used by the Vulgus are no different.

Marcus: Ah...I think I remember...that.

  • Assassinate enemies carrying bombs

The player's Descendant repeats the process, exterminating another wave of Vulgus until another Follower Panzer appears with a fuse. They defeat this monster and plant it onto the next generator.

  • Shut down enemy generators using the obtained bombs

The bomb detonates and destroys the second generator.

  • Eliminate the enemies defending the camp
  • Assassinate enemies carrying bombs
  • Shut down enemy generators using the obtained bombs

The player's Descendant repeats the process one last time for the third generator.

Captain Harris: That was the final generator! Ha! I bet they weren't expecting us to use the fuses like that!

  • Defeat the target - Elite Storm Warrior 0/1

Marcus: Descendant, powerful reinforcements have arrived!

Captain Harris: It's okay if I don't tell you what to do again, yeah?

The player's Descendant returns to the center of the coliseum, where an assault ship drops off an Elite Storm Warrior. After the powerful monster is vanquished, the remaining Vulgus forces retreat.

Marcus: I've learned a useful tactic today. Thank you, Captain Harris. From now on, any Vulgus field generators we find will be handled using this method.

Nell: It's not your concern. We've exchanged some harsh words, but I will handle it. I decided to go ahead, I had no choice. I respect Alpha's prudence, but I do not want to waste what might be our only opportunity to work with the Guide. If our results at the Ancestors facility are positive, Alpha will change his mind. Which is why I leave it in your capable hands, Descendant.

Leads for the Future

The investigation of the Ancestors' facility has begun. You must obtain leads to restore the core functionality of Guide.

  • Investigate an Ancestors' facility that used to be <The Magister Lab>

With the Vulgus bases around The Fallen Theater taken care of for the time being, the player's Descendant makes their way to the Magister Lab. Although Vulgus forces have taken up residence, this Ancestors' facility may still hold the data, knowledge, and technology to restore the Guide's system.

Infiltration Operation - Magister Lab

The ancient ruins, collectively known as the "Ancestors' facility", are believed to have been created by humanity's forebears, the "Ancestors." These ruins are still home to technologies and data that transcend time, which is why they are classified as a tactically strategic point of interest. The Magister Lab was a place where the Ancestor's facility was repurposed for research purposes and where a significant amount of advanced technology was obtained, centered around the Magisters. However with the current situation being opaque, control has been lost, and the site has been abandoned.

  • Defeat all targets

Guide: This is the Ancestors facility...I hope we can find something we can use to restore my system. But...the Vulgus commander has already ordered his troops to extract the data. Are we too late?

Enzo: The Ancestors data should not be underestimated. Not only does it have immense capacity, it is also quantum-encrypted. Even the Magisters who worked here doing research have said that full data extraction is impossible.

Guide: Magisters...Do you mean the technologists who were once allied with the Vulgus?

Enzo: More importantly, the enemy is after the Ancestors data as well. Can anyone think why?

Guide: Nothing comes to mind. My only guess is that this place is somehow connected to the Ironheart. I'll know once I have the data.

  • Move to the operation zone

The player's Descendant navigates through a small cave until they enter the ruins of the Ancestors' facility. They emerge into a large circular room with a towering computer terminal in the center, surround by Vulgus soldiers.

  • Defeat all targets

After clearing the area, the player's Descendant is able to interact with the terminal.

  • Interact with the target to extract the Ancestors' data

Guide: Descendant, unfortunately non of the Ancestors' data remains in this terminal. I will check the other terminals, but it seems the Vulgus were successful with their extraction.

  • Move by breaking through the Vulgus

Enzo: That can't be right! If it were possible to fully extract the data, then the Magisters would have already done it...!

Guide: Until recently, it would have been impossible for the Vulgus as well. However, if they have someone on their side who is very familiar with the Ironheart, then it will have been achievable. By applying algorithms from the Ironheart to military applications, electronic warfare capabilities can be greatly improved. I recommend we investigate the other terminals.

The player's Descendant leaves the room and continues through another series of caves, eliminating Vulgus soldiers stationed along the way.

  • Defeat all targets

Greg: Descendant...Did you come here looking for me? Or did you come to witness the superior technology of the Vulgus? I am Greg, commander of the invading Vulgus forces. It is a shame that I am unable to face you directly...hahaha...

  • Move to the operation zone

The player's Descendant navigates to the main computer terminal in the Magister Lab, which is heavily occupied by Vulgus forces.

  • Defeat all targets

Once the room is cleared, the player's Descendant interacts with the computer terminal.

  • Interact with the target to confirm the Ancestors' data

Guide: This terminal also does not contain the Ancestor's data. However, Descendant, I sense the transmission of the Ancestors data is happening close by. That is more likely where the enemy command center is located.

  • Defeat the target - Elite Storm Warrior 0/1

More Vulgus invade the room led by an Elite Storm Warrior. After an intense battle, the player's Descendant defeats the Elite monster, causing the remaining Vulgus to retreat.

  • Interact with the target to acquire traces of Vulgus information

The player's Descendant once more interacts with the computer terminal, this time seeking information on where the Vulgus command center could be located. With any information retrieved from the terminal, the player's Descendant teleports back to Albion.

Conflicting Opinions

There are conflicting opinions at HQ about the results of the investigation of the Ancestors' facility. You need to attend a strategy meeting to prepare for future operations.

  • Talk to Alpha at HQ

Alpha: Damn it...The situation continues to get worse...

Nell: But that doesn't mean everything is lost. If we hit the enemy command post now, we can still retrieve the data for the Guide...

Alpha: ...Nell, did you just say, 'retrieve the data for the Guide?!'

The player's Descendant arrives to HQ as Alpha and Nell are locked in an impassioned debate. Alpha slams his fist against the holographic display table in the center of the room.

Alpha: Just how much do you plan to rely on that Guide?!

Nell: You'd prefer to keep sending in the Investigative Corps? How much time have we wasted searching for the Ironhearts without any leads?!

Guide is spotted by the player's Descendant as she crosses the room. She looks back and smiles before heading up the stairs and out of sight.

Nell: Alpha, this is the best opportunity we've had in a century!

Alpha: Or, it could be a trap!

As Alpha and Nell continue to argue, the player's Descendant follows Guide out of the room.

Alpha: The Descendants are Albion's only hope! And now, it's like they have a parasite attached to their minds!

Guide: This way, Descendant.

The player's Descendant follows Guide through Albion, making their way to the platform that overlooks the city.

Guide: It seems HQ is faltering. I understand. After all, HQ shoulders the burden to protect humanity. It is difficult for the fate of humanity to be placed into the hands of something only a few can see. But Descendant, my purpose is the same as yours. Trust me. Do this and you will retrieve the Ironheart.

Guide moves away, behind the player's Descendant. As they turn to look at the Guide, she has vanished once more.

Differences in Opinion

It looks like the dispute between Alpha and Nell has calmed down. Listen to the operation directions from Alpha.

  • Talk to Alpha at HQ

The player's Descendant returns to HQ and meets with Alpha once his argument with Nell has ceased.

Alpha: Descendant...I apologize for my temper. I should also apologize to you, Nell...It seems the divide between our opinions regarding this operation may be too great. I did not authorize the investigation of the Ancestors facility because I trust the Guide. My intention was to prevent the Vulgus from access the Ancestors data. Which is why, regardless of whether I trust her or not, that data must be retrieved. Bunny has identified a number of Vulgus facilities located in the direction of the Grand Square. If we investigate them, we should be able to track down the location of the Vulgus command center where the data is being held. As for the Guide...Let's continue that discussion after this operation has concluded.

Tracking the Vulgus Command Center

The data the Vulgus have extracted from the Ancestors' facility was sent to an enemy Command Center somewhere in Kingston. Investigate the Vulgus facility to find out the location of the Command Center.

Captain Harris: Hey Descendant! I was going through Bunny's recon, and I noticed there was a Vulgus battery I haven't seen before. If we can get the specifications and output, I can figure out why they installed it. Connect your Ecive to the battery storage container. I'll disable the security remotely. Once the battery pack is exposed, put it in the supply box and send it over.

  • Move to the repository and disarm security - Amount Seized 0/2

There are two storage containers for the player's Descendant to seize. After disabling security at each of them, waves of Vulgus will try to stop them. When the seizure is finished, the battery pack will reveal itself from the storage container. When each batter pack is collected, the player's Descendant drops it into the supply box.

Captain Harris: Hmm, seems the electrical grid is connected underground. The output amount is just right for operating a command center. So the Vulgus command center is underground. I'll let Bunny know.

  • Attempt hacking enemy's classified information

Eckert: This is Eckert from the Signal Corps' Cyber Intel unit. We've detected the transmission of a huge number of data packets in this zone. Requesting mission approval to intercept them. There should be a Vulgus data transmitter nearby. If you can get near to it, I can hack into it remotely and collect the data.

There are two databases for the player's Descendant to hack into, each one requiring the player's Descendant to stay close to the data transmitter and defend against waves of Vulgus for one minute. After disabling security at each of them, waves of Vulgus will try to stop them. When the seizure is finished, the battery pack will reveal itself from the storage container. When each batter pack is collected, the player's Descendant drops it into the supply box.

Eckert: The Vulgus are transmitting the Ancestors data to an external location. I'll send the details to Bunny...Thankfully, since they damaged the network infrastructure, transmission speeds have been extremely slow. That came back to bite them!

Target spotted

Through your investigation of the Vulgus facilities, you were able to locate the enemy command center. Switch roles with Bunny in order to launch an assault on the command center.

  • Trade places with Bunny at the Vulgus Command Center

Bunny: Haha! Got it! The enemy command center has been identified!

Alpha: Great work, Bunny. You kept at it until it was done. Thank you.

Bunny: It's all thanks to everyone who worked hard to find the clues! So, are we planning to hit them right away?

Alpha: You've already been injured by Karel, so full-scale combat is out of the question for you at the moment. A different Descendant will be tasked with the strike on the Vulgus command center.

Bunny: Hmph! I wanted to help!

Alpha: Descendant, get the coordinates of the command center from Bunny and prepare to attack. Over and out.

The player's Descendant travels to the building containing the secret cave the Vulgus have established their command center. Inside, Bunny waits for their arrival.

Bunny: Did you hear Alpha? Time to swap shifts, partner! To be honest, I wanted to be the one to capture the Vulgus commander...How infuriating! The operation to retrieve the Ironheart failed, and I got injured. Argh! That leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I should go swap out my weapons and upgrade my modules if I don't want to be defeated again. Guess I'll head back first. Good luck! See you in Albion!

Attack the Command Center

We have finally located the enemy command center. We must attack it and retrieve the Ancestors' data stolen by the enemies.

Infiltration Operation - Slumber Valley

In Kingston, which was built atop rocky terrain, there are naturally formed secret caves, which humanity had been using places for a range of purposes, from military bases to natural air-raid shelters. Problems arose when even the Vulgus began to utilize these secret caves. HQ has decided to call these indeterminate ambush points the "Slumber Valley" and has been conducting search and destroy operations upon their discovery.

    • Eliminate the enemies in the Surveillance Zone

    • Destroy the Vulgus Technology Device to black the transmission of the Ancestors' data

Guide: You should be able to see the data transmitter shortly. I'll prepare myself.

The player's Descendant locates and begins to destroy the Vulgus Technology Device. Before it can be destroyed, however, a barrier is formed around it preventing anymore damage. After clearing out a wave of Vulgus, the barrier is lowered and able to be damaged once again. A second barrier forms forcing the player's Descendant to eliminate another wave of Vulgus helmed by an Elite Vulgus Grenadier. With the barrier down once more, the Vulgus Technology Device is destroyed.

    • Move to the operation zone

Greg: Damn you! Why are you destroying the device? Is this data not your objective? All forces! Protect the transmitter at all costs!

Guide: Descendant, we need to hurry. The data transmission is almost complete.

    • Eliminate the enemies in the Surveillance Zone

Greg: Huhuhu...Time to try out Master Karel's gift to me...This precision bomber...Descendant! Die!

    • Eliminate the appeared target - Greg the Star-Crossed

After exterminating the Vulgus that are deployed to the area, Greg the Star-Crossed teleports from his assault ship. The player's Descendant confronts him and a fierce battle ensues. Greg is able to target the player's Descendant with his precision bomber. When the target that forms around the player's Descendant blinks, they are able to dodge roll away from the blast.

His bomber is not the only battle trick Greg has, however. Throughout the fight, three spheres will begin to orbit Greg. Destroying the spheres within a similar amount of time from each other will leave Greg vulnerable once more.

After a grueling battle, the player's Descendant is victorious over the Vulgus commander.

    Information left by the Ancestors

Guide, who obtained the Ancestors data, found a way to restore the system. You must talk to guide for more information.

    • Talk to Guide in Albion

Guide: To all Descendants: I have obtained the Ancestors' data. With this, I have been able to restore my system. If there are any Descendants who can speak to me now, please connect. I would like to speak with you directly. I have vital information.

Enzo: This is Enzo. Standing by to upload records to the command console. If there are any Descendants able to respond, please speak to the Guide.

The player's Descendant seeks out Guide in Albion and speaks with her.

Guide: Descendant, thanks to you, the data was located, and I was able to restore my functions. Should my system be damaged again, bringing me into contact with another Ironheart is a failsafe restoration method. However, should this prove to be impossible, there is an emergency restoration protocol put in place by the Ancestors. By collecting particle elements from where the Ironheart was excavated, a similar contact environment can be created. This protocol can also be applied should the Ironheart be damaged. The Vulgus wanted to secure the Ancestors' data to obtain this information. When I was separated from the Ironheart, the Ironheart that the Vulgus seized was also damaged. The Void Erosions in the ruins likely occurred due to this damage. And, Descendant, there is something else that concerns me. How did the Vulgus know that the ancestors' facility had this information? The only entities that I can think of who would consider using the system restoration protocol are Guides and Ancestors. Unless...there is an Ancestor among the Vulgus...Wait...Descendant, I can sense vibrations. They feel very similar to a Void Erosion. Threatening.

Seneca: Void Dimension link detected. A Colossus is approaching. Classification Type: Grave Walker.

    Humanity's Scourge

A Void Dimension link has been detected and a Colossus appeared. Under Alpha's command, you must prepare for the Colossus Intercept Battle

    • Talk to Seneca in Albion

Seneca: All Descendants in Albion, prepare for an Intercept Battle.

Alpha: Damn it! Why a Colossus now, of all the times! All personnel, prepare for an Intercept Battle! Deployable personnel, make your way to Seneca immediately and head to the Void!

The player's Descendant hastily makes their way to the center of Albion where they find Seneca near the teleporter.

Seneca: Descendant, ever since Karel caused the Void Erosion with the Ironheart, the Colossi have become more active. According to my calculations, the expected point of arrival for this Colossus is at the Kingston border. The classification type is....Grave Walker, just like the one you encountered at the ruins. That specimen was weaker due to the unexpected nature of the dimensional link, but things will be different this time. If this Colossus manages to enter Ingris...Kingston may be lost to use forever. We must intercept it in the Void Dimension before that happens. I will send you to the Void Dimension once you have finished your battle preparations. May the intercept be successful, Descendant.

    Intercept Battle: Grave Walker

Intercept Grave Walker on Normal Difficulty in order to protect Ingris.

    • Defeat Grave Walker

As the player's Descendant is transported to the Void Dimension, the Grave Walker bursts free from a Dimension Gate as it did in the ruins before. The player's Descendant takes on Grave Walker in unyielding combat, facing off the relentless onslaught of the powerful Colossus. Using their Ecive, they are able to find and target its weak points. When the player's Descendant is close enough, they are able to use their grappling hook to climb up the Grave Walker and remove its Shell, Brain, and Core.

As the battle ensues, the Colossus will summon smaller arachnid like mechs called Roly-Poly which the player's Descendant eliminates before they become overrun. Near the end of the battle, the Grave Walker becomes frenzied and immune to damage. The player's Descendant quickly discovers that they must destroy the vials located on the Grave Walker's knees in order to continue damaging it.

Once the beast is vanquished, a reconstructed device appears allowing The Player's Descendant to shape an Amorphous Material Pattern they've collected into one of its components.

    Calling of the Descendant

Although it appeared suddenly, you successfully intercepted Grave Walker. Report the results of the Intercept Battle to Seneca.

    • Talk to Seneca in Albion

The player's Descendant returns to Albion after collecting their loot and shaping an Amorphous Material Pattern. They speak to Seneca once more.

Seneca: Good work, Descendant. The Colossus was stronger than average, and you still achieved a resounding victory. However, as long as the Dimensional Wall remains open, the invasion of the Colossi will never end. Until the Dimensional Wall is closed, humankind will have no choice but to live with the fear of the Colossi. Descendant. Securing the Ironheart and closing the Dimensional Wall...it isn't just to defeat the Vulgus. If we cannot stop the invasion of Ingris by the Colossi, there will be no hope for humanity. Remember your calling. I will focus more attention on monitoring the Void Dimension.

Alpha: That was a job well done, Descendant. While you were intercepting the Colossus, the Guide gave Enzo some important intel. It concerns the next operation, so head back to HQ once you're ready.

Alpha: Descendant, using the Ancestors' data, the Guide claims to have discovered a zone where an Ironheart has been excavated. After undergoing emergency restoration protocol at that location, the Guide should be able to track the Ironheart. The problem is...The Ironheart excavation site is near a Vulgus munitions factory. It's a weapons production site where cyborg Vulgus, the Legion of Immortality, are manufactured. Sharen and the Colon Special Forces, along with Jeremy, have been deployed there as the front line and a bridgehead has been secured. I've assigned you to this operation as well. Sharen has exceptional infiltration skills, but I need someone who can lead the battle. Your mission is to infiltrate the Ironheart excavation site and restore the Guide's system. I still have my doubts about the Guide. Even for this operation, I'm sending you into the lion's den on the strength of her words. But, after witnessing the Intercept Battle, I've made up my mind. We must find the Ironheart and close the Dimensional Wall as soon as possible. Failure to do so would leave the remnants of humankind to be trampled by the Colossi, even if we win the war against the Vulgus. So, I have decided to put my trust in the strategic value of the Guide, for now. Descendant, I leave this operation in your hands. The fate of humanity rests on your shoulders.

The player's Descendant leaves HQ and seeks out the Descendant Instructor nearby.

Descendant Instructor: Since this training is formal, an official introduction would be appropriate. I am the Descendant Instructor under the direct command of the Operations Commander. Welcome. It feels like only yesterday you were a recruit, but seeing how imposing you've become, I feel like the lifespan of my visual sensors has been extended. This little guy is a prospective junior classman that I am training just in case anything happens. They are undergoing basic drill training at the moment. Alright, now that introductions are out of the way, let's move on to the topic of formal training. As devices developed by the Magisters, Modules can be equipped on both firearms and body equipment, respectively. These allow Descendants to be able to achieve victory in combat situations more effectively. These are, without a doubt, essential devices that are instrumental in helping you display more outstanding Arche abilities. There is also a wide variety of types. From specialized Modules for each Descendant to Modules that are interchangeable, a limitless ecosystem has been built. This concludes the concept portion of the lecture. Descendant, do you remember when you would repeat after me? Experience trumps theory! That's right. Experience is truly the only way to go. Any module is fine. Go to Silion and try enhancing it once before coming back to me. Since the enhanced Module will be the basis for evaluating whether you completed this training, don't forget to bring it back with you.

Descendant Instructor: Let's take a look at the enhanced Module. Hmm...It's perfect! Keeping moving forward like this and your future will be as bright as my mind. Now, do you have any thoughts or impressions after enhancing a Module...Oh, you wondering how many you should equip? I knew that you would see beyond the theoretical. There are no guidelines regarding the number of equipped Modules. What kind, and what composition, within the capacity limit really depends on the capabilities of you, Descendant. Before we continue, let's circulate the accident cases regarding enhancements. There was an unfortunate incident where a Module had been carelessly enhanced, which led to its inability to be equipped, due to your capacity limit. Please note that once a Module has been enhanced, it cannot be reversed. However, Modules that have been enhanced many times will naturally display better performance within the capacity limit. You will have to do your best to achieve the battle results you dream of. Now that you have completed the formal training with flying colors, it's time for you to depart. I truly wish you the best moving forward. May your future hold infinite glory and growth. More enhancements. Better Modules. More potent Descendants. Farewell for now.

The player's Descendant prepares to teleport to Sterile Land and begin the next operation.
